When the German army overran France, a number of French Navy vessels were found either damaged in ports or still under construction in the shipyards.

Four of them were Flower Class Corvettes, after the French had received the design and specifications from the British. Those four ships were being built in the "Chantiers de la Loire" shipyard in St. Nazaire-Penhoet and were originally to be named the ARQUEBUSE, HALLEBARDE, SABRE and POIGNARD.

As none of these vessels were completed when France fell the German navy took over the unfinished ships officially and instead gave them the designations PA 1-4 as follows:

ARQUEBUSE - 16/10/1940 as PA 1
HALLEBARDE - 27/11/1940 as PA 2
SABRE - 29/11/1940 as PA 3
POIGNARD - 1941 (exact date not known) as PA 4

The designation "PA" stood for "Patroullienboot Ausland" or foreign (captured) patrol craft and was used only for the Flower Class corvettes.

This 'PA' Variant of the Flower Class Corvette comes with German Kriegsmarine Crew and a sheet of German Kriegsmarine flags however the ship card will still be the Royal Navy card.

The full rules for fielding the Flower Class Patrol Boat (PA) in your games of Cruel Seas can be found in the Close Quarters Supplement (Page 42).

Contains; 1 resin and metal Ship 1/350th scale

Models supplied unassembled and unpainted, model pictured is the same model from the Flower Class Corvette listing.
